Job summary

A&O Shearman’s Belfast office seeks a Senior In-House Lawyer specializing in AI and data privacy to join the Data Privacy Risk team. You will directly support the Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy Chief Privacy Officer in a fast‑paced, risk‑focused environment.

The role involves developing AI governance, advising on privacy by design, incident response and regulatory reporting, and guiding colleagues across IT and business units. A minimum of 5 years PQE in risk or in‑house practice is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years PQE advising AI, privacy, information security and data handling.
• Experience in international corporate or professional services environments.
• Ability to translate technical processes into business language.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy Chief Privacy Officer.
• Develop and maintain AI governance and risk management programme.
• Advise on privacy framework, data handling and information security.
• Assist with incident response planning and execution.
• Provide guidance on privacy issues, policies and best practice across the firm.
• Deliver training and communications on privacy, AI, and data governance.
• Create and maintain records, policies, and pro-forma documentation.
• Mentor junior team members and support the Chief Privacy Officer’s work.
