Job summary

A&O Shearman in Belfast is seeking a Senior In-House Lawyer for AI & Data Privacy to join the Data Privacy Risk team, supporting the Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy Chief Privacy Officer.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining the firm's AI governance, providing risk management guidance on AI strategy, and ensuring privacy and information security across the business world-wide.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years PQE advising on AI, privacy, information security, and data handling issues.
• Extensive experience providing directive and pragmatic advice in a commercial context.
• Experience in an international corporate or professional services environment.
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and manage priorities.
• Enthusiasm for technology and innovation with ability to explain technical processes in business terms.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Chief Privacy Officer to develop and maintain the firm's AI governance and risk management programme.
• Provide risk management advice and support on AI strategy and internal deployment.
• Assist in managing and maintaining the firm's global privacy framework.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to ensure privacy by design in technology and data initiatives.
• Respond to and advise on individual rights requests and data incident response.
• Advise colleagues on privacy, information security and AI policies and best practices.
• Develop and deliver training and communication plans.
• Create and maintain records, policies, and pro-forma documentation.
• Support junior team members in their professional development.
• Support all aspects of the Chief Privacy Officer's and Deputy Chief Privacy Officer's work.
