Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. in Tarporley, Cheshire, is seeking an Accounts Senior (Qualified or QBE) to join a busy client accounts team. You will prepare year-end accounts, maintain working papers, and support VAT/MTD duties across a diverse client base.

This role offers flexi-time, a competitive salary (£32k-£42k), study support, and clear progression within a collaborative firm environment.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification minimum; ACA/ACCA desirable or actively studying is preferred.
• Strong foundation in double-entry bookkeeping and SME accounts preparation.
• Experience with VAT and MTD compliance and filings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well-organised with ability to manage varied workloads to deadlines.
• Proficiency in standard accounting software (Xero/Sage/QuickBooks/CCH) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts and robust workings for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Maintain accurate working papers and client files.
• Assist clients in maintaining digital accounting records and resolve routine queries.
• Process bookkeeping and reconciliations including VAT and control accounts.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and support MTD requirements.
• Mentor junior accounts technicians and assist managers with workflow oversight.
