Howett Thorpe Recruitment Consultants Ltd presents a new Senior Accountant role within a growing accountancy practice in the Winchester area. You will manage a client portfolio, engage in a range of statutory and tax work, and contribute to process improvements while developing your career.

The role is suited to someone near or at ACCA/ACA qualification, with solid UK practice experience and strong Excel skills. A flexible hybrid working setup is available, with clear pathways to progression.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACA qualified or close to qualification.
• Solid UK accountancy practice experience with a varied client portfolio.
• Experience with Xero, Sage, CaseWare and CCH would be a bonus.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Sharp attention to detail; strong Excel skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude; team player who can work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
• Prepare statutory accounts and finalise accounts under supervision.
• Prepare corporation tax computations.
• Supervise and train junior team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and add value for clients.
• Keep technical knowledge up to date; build client relationships.
• Assist with pricing and new client quotes.
• Continue development through hands-on training and support.

Senior Accountant – About The Role

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, acting as their main point of contact
• Preparing statutory accounts and finalising accounts under the supervision of your Line Manager
• Preparing corporation tax computations
• Supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members, providing support and training
• Spotting opportunities to improve processes and add real value for clients
• Keeping your technical knowledge sharp and up to date
• Building strong relationships across the firm and with clients
• Getting involved in pricing and new client quotes
• Continuing to develop through hands on training and support

The successful Senior Accountant will have:

• ACCA/ACA qualified, or close to qualification
• Solid UK accountancy practice experience, ideally including exposure to a varied client portfolio
• Experience with Xero, Sage, CaseWare, and CCH would be a bonus
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Sharp attention to detail
• Strong Excel skills and confident picking up new software
