Job summary

ACCA Careers in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced senior accountant to review and improve financial reporting quality, while overseeing statutory reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting matters. You will work closely with clients and junior staff, taking ownership of complex assignments and ensuring deadlines are met.

The role requires ACA or ACCA qualification and substantial practice experience, with strong technical knowledge and client-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Strong experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.
• Experience reviewing and overseeing the work of others rather than solely preparing accounts.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and financial reporting requirements.
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing consolidated group accounts.
• Experience liaising with auditors and resolving technical accounting queries.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver within deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review statutory accounts prepared by junior and part-qualified team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of financial statements for a diverse client portfolio.
• Review and support the preparation of management accounts, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns.
• Prepare and review consolidated group accounts for more complex client structures.
• Act as a key technical point of contact for accounting and reporting queries.
• Liaise directly with external auditors and respond to audit queries efficiently.
• Identify areas for improvement and maintain high quality standards across assignments.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear and commercial advice.
• Support, mentor and develop junior members of the team.
• Work closely with senior leadership to ensure client deadlines and service standards are consistently achieved.
