Howett-Thorpe Recruitment Consultants Limited is seeking a newly qualified accountant to join a fast-growing firm in Eastleigh. A senior candidate nearing qualification will also be considered.

You will manage a diverse client portfolio, implement ideas to improve processes, and enjoy clear career progression opportunities. The successful candidate will have ACCA/ACA status or close to qualification, solid UK practice exposure, experience with Xero, Sage, Caseware, and CCH is a bonus, and strong

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACA qualification or close to qualification
• Solid UK accountancy practice experience with varied client portfolio
• Experience with Xero, Sage, Caseware, and CCH would be a bonus
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong Excel skills and confident with new software
• Positive, proactive attitude and able to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors
• Prepare statutory accounts and finalise accounts under supervision
• Prepare corporation tax computations
• Supervise and review junior team members
• Spot opportunities to improve processes and add value for clients
• Keep technical knowledge up to date
• Build strong relationships with clients and internally
• Assist with pricing and new client quotes
• Continue to develop through hands-on training and support

Senior Accountant - About The Role

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, acting as their main point of contact
• Preparing statutory accounts and finalising accounts under the supervision of your Line Manager
• Preparing corporation tax computations
• Supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members, providing support and training
• Spotting opportunities to improve processes and add real value for clients
• Keeping your technical knowledge sharp and up to date
• Building strong relationships across the firm and with clients
• Getting involved in pricing and new client quotes
• Continuing to develop through hands on training and support

The successful Senior Accountant will have:

• ACCA/ACA qualified, or close to qualification
• Solid UK accountancy practice experience, ideally including exposure to a varied client portfolio
• Experience with Xero, Sage, Caseware, and CCH would be a bonus
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Sharp attention to detail
• Strong Excel skills and confident picking up new software
• A positive, confident, and proactive attitude
• Comfortable prioritising and delivering high quality work to tight deadlines
• A team player who's also self-motivated
