Four Squared Recruitment Ltd in Dudley is partnering with a well-established accountancy practice to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant. You will manage a varied workload across accounts preparation, audit and advisory services, while taking ownership of client relationships.

We are seeking candidates with practice experience, strong technical skills and a proactive approach to developing junior team members. A clear progression path is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy practice environment is essential.
• Strong accounts preparation experience across diverse entities.
• Audit experience including planning, fieldwork and review.
• Knowledge of corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, CIS and PAYE.
• Experience managing a client portfolio and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of client accounts across accounts prep, audit and advisory work.
• Preparing statutory accounts for various entity types including charities.
• Reviewing management accounts and tax computations/returns.
• Liaising with clients and owning key relationships with business owners.
• Leading meetings, providing practical business guidance and supporting junior staff.
• Overseeing workflow, deadlines and collaboration with the Practice Manager.

We're partnering with a well-established and highly respected accountancy practice in Dudley that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join their close-knit team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained accountant who enjoys a varied role, combining client accountancy work with audit assignments, while also taking ownership of client relationships and supporting the development of junior team members.

The firm works with a broad range of owner-managed businesses, partnerships, sole traders and limited companies, offering exposure to diverse and interesting work. With a clear progression pathway and regular performance reviews, this role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their practice career.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients while supporting the wider practice across accounts preparation, audit and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts
• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
• Attending client meetings and providing practical business advice
• Supporting and contributing to audit assignments
• Reviewing bookkeeping work and overseeing junior team members
• Preparing and reviewing tax computations and returns
• Liaising directly with HMRC regarding client matters and enquiries
• Assisting with tax planning opportunities for individuals and businesses
• Supporting workflow management, deadlines and team development
• Working closely with the Practice Manager and wider leadership team

About You

We're keen to speak with experienced practice accountants who demonstrate strong technical capability alongside excellent client-facing skills. You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment (essential)
• Strong accounts preparation experience across a range of business entities
• Audit experience, ideally including planning, fieldwork and completion stages
• Good knowledge of corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, CIS and PAYE
• Experience managing a client portfolio
• Confidence communicating directly with business owners and stakeholders
• Experience reviewing work and supervising junior staff
• A proactive, "can-do" approach with the ability to take ownership of your work
• Professional qualifications (ACA / ACCA) are preferred but not essential for the right candidate Candidates from small to medium-sized independent practices will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
