Castle Employment Group is seeking a Senior Accountant in Hull to join an established practice. The role focuses on preparing and finalising year-end accounts, managing client relationships and taking ownership of workloads.

Location: Hull

Salary: £35,000-£40,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 9am-5pm | Friday, 8am-4pm

Castle Employment is working with an established and forward-thinking accountancy practice that is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join its growing accounts team.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, reviewing and finalising year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients, including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Managing accounts preparation from trial balance through to completion.
• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Managing client queries and providing accounting and tax-related guidance.
• Taking ownership of accounts production, ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Reviewing work completed by junior accountants and providing support where required.
• Liaising directly with clients and building strong, long-term working relationships.
• Working closely with the Partners and wider accounts team to manage workloads and meet deadlines.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice, ideally at Senior Accountant level.
• Strong experience preparing and finalising year-end accounts, particularly for limited companies.
• A good understanding of corporation tax, accounting standards and HMRC compliance requirements.
• The ability to manage their own workload and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Confidence communicating directly with clients and handling more complex accounting queries.
• Experience reviewing accounts or supporting junior team members would be beneficial.

Qualifications are not essential! The firm is open to qualified, part-qualified and qualified-by-experience accountants who have the right technical experience within practice.

For candidates interested in remote working, previous experience working independently and managing accounts through to completion will be particularly important.
