Job summary

AJ Chambers ® is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our collaborative team in Greater London. You will manage a varied portfolio of clients across sectors, delivering high-quality statutory accounts and tax support with supervision from Managers and Partners.

You will mentor junior colleagues, develop your technical expertise, and enjoy hybrid working with flexible hours as you progress towards management within a forward-thinking practice.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• At least four years’ experience working within a medium-sized accountancy practice.
• Strong technical accounting skills and a good understanding of corporation tax.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• A collaborative, team-focused approach, with the confidence to support and guide junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and finalise statutory accounts and corporation tax returns for limited companies and groups under FRS 105 and FRS 102.
• Review corporate accounts prepared by junior team members.
• Manage the filing of accounts with Companies House and submissions to HMRC, supporting Partners with the management of their corporate portfolios.
• Review sole trader accounts and prepare personal tax returns.
• Manage a small portfolio of monthly and quarterly bookkeeping assignments, including Making Tax Digital (MTD) and VAT returns.
• Support, train and mentor junior team members.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, supporting ambitious businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals. Working closely with Managers and Partners, you’ll combine technical expertise, client relationship management and team support to deliver a high-quality service.

You’ll also play an active role in supporting junior colleagues, sharing your knowledge and contributing to the continued success of our team.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You’re a technically capable and motivated accountant who enjoys working with clients, solving problems and supporting colleagues. You’re comfortable managing your own workload with minimal supervision and are keen to continue developing your expertise within a growing practice.

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

• Experience using CCH Accounts Production.
• Experience preparing personal tax returns.
• Knowledge of Xero.
