Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Senior Accountant in Gillingham to manage a small client portfolio, delivering year-end accounts and statutory returns in a professional services firm.

The ideal candidate is ACCA/ACA qualified (or nearing), with strong knowledge of accounting standards, Excel and accounting software proficiency, and experience in financial statements and month‑end processes; you will review junior work and liaise with clients.

As a Senior Accountant in Gillingham within the accountancy industry, you'll be managing a small portfolio of clients. The role will involve a mix of accounts and tax duties.

Description

• Prepare year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, and LLPs, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review corporation tax returns, self-assessment tax returns, and supporting schedules, identifying potential tax planning opportunities where appropriate.
• Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact and developing strong professional relationships while providing high-quality advice and support.
• Review bookkeeping, VAT returns, and management accounts prepared by junior team members, providing guidance, training, and constructive feedback.
• Liaise directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries, and ensure work is completed efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
• Support partners and managers with workflow planning, client onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Profile

A successful Senior Accountant should have:

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• ACCA/ACA qualified (or nearly qualified).
