Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment in Dunstable is seeking a Senior Accountant for a small but growing accountancy practice. You will manage client portfolios, prepare year-end and statutory accounts, review tax returns, and provide advisory support to drive the practice forward.

The role requires at least 5 years in practice, ACA/ACCA/CIMA or QBE, and strong communication and organisational skills. Flexible hours and options for full or part-time work are available.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications or equivalent encouraged.
• Minimum five years of experience in Accountancy Practice.
• Must be able to commute to Dunstable.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Experience with various accounting software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients and be the main point of contact.
• Prepare year-end and statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies.
• Prepare and review personal, partnership and corporation tax returns.
• Complete VAT returns, bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts production from bookkeeping to finalisation and submission.
• Provide clients with general accounting and business advice.
• Coordinate with HMRC and Companies House as required.
• Review work by junior staff and provide guidance.
• Identify tax planning opportunities for clients.
• Assist with management accounts and cash-flow forecasting.

Location: Dunstable
Package: £35,000-£40,000, Flexible Hours, Auto Enrolment to pension, 28 days holiday
Working Hours: Full time or Part Time. Open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

A new opportunity has arisen within a small but growing Accountancy Practice in Dunstable. This innovative practice are seeking a Senior Accountant, to work under the directors, ensuring efficient portfolio management, and to help push the practice forward

In this role, you should be an all-rounder handling accounts prep, tax returns, reviewing accounts, and more. The practice hold a fast-paced and energetic environment, that would suit an ambitious accountant seeking a new challenge

Senior Accountant Job Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact and building strong working relationships.
• Prepare year-end accounts and statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare and review personal, partnership and corporation tax returns.
• Complete VAT returns, bookkeeping and bank reconciliations where required.
• Handle accounts production from initial bookkeeping through to finalisation and submission.
• Provide clients with general accounting, tax and business advice.
• Liaise directly with HMRC and Companies House where required.
• Review work completed by junior members of the team and provide guidance and support.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and areas where clients could improve their financial position.
• Assist with management accounts, cash-flow forecasts and other ad-hoc financial reporting.
• Ensure all client work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines.
• Assist with the onboarding of new clients and maintain accurate client records.
• Support the wider practice with ad-hoc projects and assignments as required.

Senior Accountant Job Requirements

• ACA or ACCA or CIMA qualifications are beneficial. Part qualified or QBE candidates can also be considered
• A minimum of 5 years experience in Accountancy Practice
• Must be able to comfortably commute to Dunstable
• Should have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
• Prior experience across different accounting software

Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits

• Salary depending on experience, likely ranging from £38,000-£50,000
