• Prepare sales and operational reports; assist with grant reporting and statutory returns.
• Support statutory accounts, VAT, and external audit processes.
• Drive improvements in reporting processes and controls across Finance and Operations.

Senior Accountant

Cardiff | Hybrid | Salary: up to £55,000 | Full-time

Vargo Group is recruiting a Senior Accountant for an established manufacturing business in Cardiff. Reporting to the Accounting & Reporting Manager, you will oversee core accounting and reporting activities, maintain reliable financial information and controls, and help operational leaders understand performance and manage costs.

What you'll do

• Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger, supporting month-end and year-end reporting, including accruals, provisions, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare the monthly financial reporting pack, actual profit and loss reports and analysis bridges. Review and present results to senior management, explaining financial and operational performance.
• Produce annual budgets, monthly cost analysis, forecasts and profitability reports, and support operational managers with cost control, expenditure and ad hoc analysis.
• Maintain stock controls, the fixed-asset register and capital-project reporting.
• Prepare sales and operational reports, manage grant reporting and complete external returns such as National Statistics and Intrastat.
• Support annual statutory accounts and Corporation Tax returns, quarterly VAT submissions, monthly external bank reporting and the external audit.
• Improve reporting processes and financial controls, contribute to continuous improvement, and work collaboratively across Finance and Operations while following health, safety and environmental requirements.

What you'll bring

• Strong accounting and reporting experience, including month-end, reconciliations and financial controls.
• The ability to analyse and explain financial and operational information to senior and non-finance colleagues.
• Good organisation, accuracy and judgement, with the ability to meet recurring deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
