Job summary

Park Street People Ltd are assisting a client near Helston in recruiting a Senior Practice Accountant. The role offers variety across accounting, tax, payroll and compliance, with responsibility for a portfolio of clients and delivering accurate financial information by deadlines.

You will work closely with clients and colleagues to ensure timely management accounts, year‑end reports, VAT and Self‑Assessment returns, using Xero or similar software, and will play a key role in delivering

Qualifications

• Qualified with ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent with post-qualification experience.
• Solid experience in accounts preparation, VAT, payroll and Self-Assessment.
• Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Excellent client communication and time management.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients with accurate accounting records.
• Prepare management accounts and year-end reports.
• Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT returns and GL activities.
• Prepare payroll and Self-Assessment tax returns.
• Support HMRC and external stakeholders.
• Provide practical accounting guidance to clients.

Job description

Our client based near Helston are currently looking for a Senior Practice Accountant to join their team. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to manage a portfolio of clients while taking responsibility for a broad range of accounting, tax, payroll and compliance activities.

You will work closely with clients and colleagues to ensure accounts and financial information are accurate, deadlines are met, and clients receive a professional and responsive service.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients, maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records
• Prepare management accounts, year-end accounts and other financial reports for a range of businesses
• Handle bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, VAT returns and general ledger activities
• Prepare and support payroll, Self-Assessment tax returns and other compliance requirements
• Work on accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Review financial information, investigate discrepancies and ensure records are complete and accurate
• Support year-end processes, audits and the preparation of information for HMRC and other external stakeholders
• Provide clients with practical guidance on accounting matters and accounting software

Requirements

• ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified with post-qualification experience in an accountancy practice
• Strong practical experience across accounts preparation, VAT, payroll and Self-Assessment tax returns
• Confident using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar
• Well organised, commercially aware and able to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, approachable manner when dealing with clients.
