Job summary

Park Street People Ltd is assisting a client near Leeds to recruit a Practice Accountant. The role offers the chance to manage a varied portfolio of clients, handling accounting, tax, payroll and compliance tasks across sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

You will prepare management and year-end accounts, manage VAT, payroll, and Self-Assessment, and support year-end processes and HMRC filings with attention to detail and strong client communication.

Qualifications

• Qualified with ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent, with post-qualification practice experience.
• Strong experience in accounts preparation, VAT, payroll and Self-Assessment tax returns.
• Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients, maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
• Prepare management accounts, year-end accounts and other financial reports for a range of businesses.
• Handle bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, VAT returns and general ledger activities.
• Prepare and support payroll, Self-Assessment tax returns and other compliance requirements.
• Work on accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Review financial information, investigate discrepancies and ensure records are complete and accurate.
• Support year-end processes, audits and the preparation of information for HMRC and other external stakeholders.
• Provide clients with practical guidance on accounting matters and accounting software.

Our client based near Leeds are currently looking for a Practice Accountant to join their team. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to manage a portfolio of clients while taking responsibility for a broad range of accounting, tax, payroll and compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients, maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records
• Prepare management accounts, year-end accounts and other financial reports for a range of businesses
• Handle bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, VAT returns and general ledger activities
• Prepare and support payroll, Self-Assessment tax returns and other compliance requirements
• Work on accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies

Requirements

• ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified with post-qualification experience in an accountancy practice

• Confident using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar
• Well organised, commercially aware and able to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, approachable manner when dealing with clients.
