Job summary

Aspire Technology Solutions in Gateshead is seeking a 3rd Line Network Support Engineer to own complex network and security faults. You will work hands-on across our Fortinet and Extreme stack, with Cisco in customer environments, and serve as a trusted technical authority for the service desk.

You will also mentor less experienced engineers, contribute to strong system documentation, and maintain clear communication with customers while resolving issues remotely or on-site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a 3rd line, Senior or escalation level network role in a MSP or multi-customer environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with firewalls and network security, especially Fortinet FortiGate.
• Knowledge of Fortinet stack (FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiNAC) and related security practices.
• Experience with Extreme networking; Cisco routing and switching.
• Deep understanding of core networking (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN, TCP/IP).
• Ability to lead complex fault resolution and document work for the team.
• Clear, customer-focused communication; able to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Act as final point of technical escalation for network and security incidents and resolve to root cause.
• Design, configure and deliver network and security changes for a large customer base, remotely and on-site.
• Lead diagnosis and resolution of major network incidents and keep stakeholders updated.
• Contribute to continual improvement of network designs and automation of tasks.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, build standards and handover notes.
• Mentor and support 1st/2nd line engineers to grow team capability.
• Collaborate with customers and colleagues to plan changes and manage risk.
• Log and manage tickets to meet agreed SLAs while handling multiple tasks.
