Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in Darlington/Middlesbrough with secondary students aged 11-18 who have Autism/ASD and other needs. The role involves providing classroom and one-to-one support, helping students access learning and communicate effectively, and promoting positive behaviour.

Experience with autism or additional needs and a willingness to assist with personal care is required. The role is on-site, with PAYE pay and short- to long-term placements available.

Salary: £90 - £100 per day

• Can you provide patient, consistent and individualised support to help young people overcome barriers to learning?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with secondary SEND settings across the Darlington and Middlesbrough area, supporting students aged 11 - 18 with a range of additional educational needs, including Autism / ASD. The settings focus on creating supportive environments where students can develop their confidence, independence and engagement with education.

The settings are looking to take on SEND Teaching Assistants on a short to long-term basis. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide classroom and individual support, assist students with their learning and communication, promote positive behaviour and independence, and provide personal care where required.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people with Autism / ASD and additional educational needs
• Experience supporting secondary-aged students is desirable
• Confidence providing personal care where required
• Strong communication skills and a patient approach
• The ability to adapt support to individual student needs
• A positive, proactive and resilient attitude
