Job summary

  • Experience completing SEND assessments and developing support plans.
  • Proven track record in raising attainment and accelerating progress; able to train colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Join the SENDCO leadership team and contribute to school-wide SEND strategy.
  • Manage non-class-based duties from your own office; coordinate with current SENDCO during handover.
  • Lead SEND assessments, develop and monitor support plans for students.
  • Deliver specialist training and coaching to staff on SEND/EAL/Literacy/ASC/BESD.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers and external partners to improve outcomes.

Salary: Teacher Pay Scale, additional TLR2 - £5,062

We want to recruit a SENDCO to work within our SENDCO leadership team (an existing SENDCO and admin assistant) to build our expertise so we can fully cater for the needs of every student in our warm and welcoming community. We have allowed several weeks for a handover period between yourself and our current SENDCO before they embark on maternity leave.

The role will be non-class-based, working from your own office, and all our staff currently receive a wellbeing package that includes first-day GP support, counselling, physiotherapy etc.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and ambitious practitioner to play a key role in the development of the school and make a significant impact on the life chances of our students. Exact responsibilities will be negotiated with the successful candidate. We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience of working within an inclusive team and a good understanding of the needs of SEND students and their parents.
  • An excellent working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
  • Appropriate specialist qualifications in SEND / National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinator, or be prepared to work towards this within 2 years of appointment.
  • Experience of completing SEND assessments and support plans.
  • Successful teaching experience in the area of SEND/EAL/Literacy/ASC/BESD and the ability to deliver specialist training support to colleagues.
  • A proven track record in raising attainment and accelerating progress;
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
