Job summary

Fairway Primary Academy in Birmingham is seeking a part-time SENDCo for maternity cover from January to October 2027, three days a week. The postholder leads SEND provision across the school, keeps practice in line with the SEND Code of Practice, and runs the EHCP process, including applications, reviews and annual meetings.

The role involves working closely with teachers, families and external agencies, supporting staff development, and promoting an inclusive culture where every child is valued

Qualifications

• NASENCO award or SENDCo qualification.
• Proven experience leading SEND provision in a primary school.
• Excellent knowledge of current SEND legislation and practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage SEND provision across the school.
• Keep SEND practice compliant with the Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate support for pupils with SEND and monitor the impact of interventions.
• Work with teachers on high-quality adaptive teaching for all learners.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Lead EHCP applications, reviews and annual review meetings.
• Support staff development through coaching, training and professional guidance.
• Promote an inclusive culture where every child is valued and succeeds.

Job description

This is a part-time SENDCo post, three days a week, covering maternity leave at Fairway Primary Academy from January to October 2027. The postholder leads and manages SEND provision across the school, keeps practice in line with the SEND Code of Practice, and runs the EHCP process, including applications, reviews and annual meetings. The post is set in a primary school and involves close work with teachers, families and outside agencies. Candidates need the NASENCO award or SENDCo qualification, and visa sponsorship is not available.
