Job summary

Class Act is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for daily supply roles across multiple school settings. The position involves supporting diverse learners with a range of needs, under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs.

The role requires recent SEND experience, patience, adaptability, and a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. DBS update service (or willingness to obtain) is expected. Training and safeguarding checks are part of the process.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of diverse learning needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language.
  • Patience, adaptability and confidence with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND across EYFS to KS4 in various settings.
  • Work with teachers and SENCOs on learning plans.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to access the curriculum.
  • Promote inclusive practice and pupil independence.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility when required.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil assessments.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Daily supply from as soon as possible

These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEND Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs across EYFS, KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individual learning plans
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
  • Promote inclusive practice and encourage pupil independence
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil assessments and reviews
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Has recent experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational setting
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of a range of learning needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH
  • Is patient, adaptable and confident working with pupils with complex needs
  • Holds a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Has a clear Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one
