Job summary

Class Act is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for flexible short-term and long-term positions across Chipping Norton and surrounding areas. You will support pupils with SEND, assisting learning and helping them access education in varied school settings.

Ideal candidates will have SEND experience, calm and nurturing approaches, strong communication, and confidence with behaviour management. Roles offer weekly PAYE with diverse, rewarding assignments.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress and share observations with staff.
  • Contribute to wider school routines during longer-term placements.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately

These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils across Chipping Norton and the surrounding areas, helping them access learning and develop confidence through tailored SEND support.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated, accessible learning activities
  • Help implement individual education plans and personalised support strategies
  • Support pupils with communication, behavioural, sensory, or cognitive needs
  • Promote a positive, calm, and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist pupils with personal care where required
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and share observations with staff
  • Contribute to wider school routines during longer-term placements
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Understanding of strategies for autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build supportive relationships
  • Confident using behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques
  • Adaptable across classrooms, key stages, and different educational environments
  • Professional, reliable, and proactive
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
