Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply across Enfield and surrounding areas. You will support pupils with SEND in classrooms and small groups, assisting with tailored plans and inclusive learning strategies.

The role offers flexibility with short-term and potential longer-term placements. DBS checks and safeguarding are essential, and weekly PAYE payment is provided based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and differentiated learning.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain a calm, supportive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check or have one registered on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND in classroom and small group settings.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Day-to-Day Supply, Starting Immediately

These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will work across multiple schools in Enfield and the surrounding areas, providing day-to-day support with the potential for longer-term or permanent roles.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils with special educational needs in classroom and small group settings
  • Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusive learning strategies
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to ensure tailored support
  • Provide one-to-one assistance where required and help pupils engage with learning activities

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND is desirable
