Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for daily supply cover in Barking and the surrounding areas. You will support pupils with a range of needs in different school settings. You will work under supervision, assist teachers with learning activities, promote inclusive practices, monitor progress and ensure safeguarding standards are followed.

DBS checks are required. Salary is dependent on experience and paid weekly through PAYE, with access to exclusive deals and wellbeing

SEND Teaching Assistant – Daily supply cover from ASAP

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities across a range of school environments
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Promote inclusive practices and help pupils access the curriculum
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and development
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEND in primary or secondary settings
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Understands a range of SEND needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Works effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
