Envision Education is partnering with a welcoming special school in St Albans to recruit a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 2-19 with severe and profound learning difficulties.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist with personal care, and collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging, accessible learning activities. A patient, proactive approach and DBS willingness are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND or in a relevant care setting (reference required).
  • Ability to swim desirable.
  • A patient, proactive and caring approach, with confidence supporting pupils with complex needs and managing behaviour positively.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • The ability to commute to St Albans or live locally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom, 1:1 and small group support tailored to pupils' individual needs.
  • Support pupils with personal care, maintaining their dignity and encouraging independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory and physical needs, using a patient and consistent approach.
  • Observe pupils' progress and share feedback with teachers.
