Job summary

Aspire People is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Manchester. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning through differentiated activities.

You’ll work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to support ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs, promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour, and help pupils develop independence across EYFS to KS2.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a UK primary school.
• Experience in 1:1 or small-group support.
• Understanding of ASD/ADHD/SEMH and learning difficulties.
• Patient, nurturing approach with able to build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
• Supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
• Helping pupils access classroom learning and differentiated activities
• Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development
• Assisting with structured routines and transitions throughout the school day
• Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
• Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has relevant experience supporting pupils with SEND within a UK primary school
• Has recent school-based experience, ideally within the last 2 years
• Is confident supporting children with a range of additional needs
• Has a patient, calm and nurturing approach
• Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Is reliable and available for full-time work
