Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary in Croydon. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group SEND support across pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and speech & language needs.

You will help learners access lessons with differentiated resources, work toward EHCP outcomes, and deliver literacy, numeracy and communication interventions in a supportive classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN/SEND.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs.
• Able to adapt learning activities around different levels of ability.
• Calm, patient and consistent when supporting behaviour.
• Proactive and confident working independently and as part of a classroom team.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group SEND support.
• Help pupils access lessons through differentiated resources and adapted activities.
• Work towards individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
• Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy, communication and SEND interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour and use effective de-escalation strategies.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive peer relationships.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
