Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Key Stages 1 and 2 at a primary school in Roydon, Harlow. This is a full-time position for someone who can provide consistent, practical support within the classroom and help pupils engage positively with their learning.

The role involves a mix of individual, small-group and classroom-based support.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in educational, SEND or related settings.
• Patient, adaptable and consistent in supporting learners.
• Confident working both individually and in a classroom team.
• Strong communication and ability to follow guidance from staff.
• Ability to build professional relationships with primary pupils.
• Availability for full-time work, Monday to Friday.
• Enhanced DBS registered with Update Service or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEND across Key Stages 1 and 2.
• Provide one-to-one, small-group and classroom support.
• Help pupils access lessons by adapting support per teacher guidance.
• Encourage engagement, confidence and increasing independence.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Work with class teachers to maintain a consistent approach.
• Observe engagement and share feedback with staff.
• Help prepare and organise appropriate classroom activities and resources.
• Promote positive behaviour and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Follow the school's safeguarding procedures and report concerns.
