Job summary

Senploy in Shirley, West Midlands, is recruiting a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a small specialist SEND school. The role focuses on personalised learning, independence, and creating a safe, nurturing environment.

You'll work with SLT, teachers and support staff to deliver tailored activities, safeguard pupils and build strong relationships. A driving licence is essential; long-term opportunities with weekly pay are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience in school, care, residential or support settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with Autism, SEND, learning difficulties, or challenging behaviours.
  • Calm, resilient and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with personal care where required.
  • Excellent attendance, reliability and work ethic.
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils through personalised learning activities tailored to individual abilities and needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies to promote a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Recognise signs of emotional dysregulation and support appropriate interventions.
  • Encourage positive behaviour through structure and positive reinforcement.
  • Record and communicate information to teaching staff and parents as appropriate.
  • Provide support across different age groups and areas of the school as required.
  • Assist with personal care where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect.
