Job summary

AMA Admin’s SEND Teaching Assistant role is based in a friendly primary school in Sheffield, supporting pupils with SEND to access learning and develop independence. The position is full-time, term-time only (39 weeks), with a September 2026 start date or as soon as possible.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
  • Good understanding of inclusive practice and strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
  • GCSE English and Maths at C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to learn, communicate, and regulate emotions.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning under direction of class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies and individual plans.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and SENDCo.
  • Support pupils with personal care while ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Collaborate with families and external professionals to ensure needed support.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
