Step Teachers Ltd is recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant at North Walsham Junior School, a thriving school for pupils aged 7–11. This full-time, long-term role starts November 2026, within a supportive, inclusive environment where staff collaborate to secure strong outcomes.

The role focuses on supporting SEN pupils, implementing tailored strategies, and promoting social, emotional, and academic development while fostering independence and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Previous SEND experience is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other SEND requirements.
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within the classroom
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and engagement
• Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning strategies
• Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and parents where appropriate
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
