Job summary

Lift Lea Forest, part of Lift Schools, seeks a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support an individual pupil with additional needs in an Outstanding primary setting in Birmingham.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt learning, reinforce progress, and support social and emotional development, building a trusting relationship with the pupil while maintaining professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children or young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting.
• Understanding how SEND affects learning, communication and development.
• Ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with an individual pupil while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Patience, calmness and adaptability to the child’s needs.
• Confident collaboration with teachers, SEND colleagues and other professionals.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Enthusiasm for helping a child develop confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive, individualised support to a named pupil throughout the school day.
• Adapt and reinforce learning to meet the pupil’s needs and deliver appropriate interventions.
• Support the pupil’s social and emotional development and promote positive peer interactions.
• Develop a trusting relationship with the pupil and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and SEND team to implement strategies across the curriculum.
