Job summary

Lift Lea Forest, part of Lift Schools, is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support an individual pupil with additional needs in a vibrant, Outstanding primary school environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt learning, support participation, and develop the pupil's confidence and independence throughout the school day. This is a fixed-term role until 31 March 2026, with potential extension for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children or young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting.
• Understanding of SEND and how additional needs can affect a child's learning, communication and development.
• Ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with an individual pupil while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Patient, calm and able to adapt your approach to the needs of the child.
• Confident working closely with teachers, SEND colleagues and other professionals.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Enthusiastic about helping a child develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, individualised support to a specific pupil throughout the school day.
• Adapt and reinforce learning to meet the pupil's needs and support engagement in classroom activities.
• Deliver appropriate interventions where required and build positive relationships with the pupil.
• Support social and emotional development and encourage independence.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SEND team to plan and implement support.

We are looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team at Lift Lea Forest and support an individual pupil with additional needs.

About the role

As our SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil, providing consistent and individualised support throughout the school day.

Working alongside the class teacher and wider SEND team, you will help adapt and reinforce learning to meet the pupil's individual needs, support their engagement in classroom activities and deliver appropriate interventions where required. A key part of the role will be developing a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil, understanding how they learn and communicate best, and providing the encouragement, structure, and consistency they need to make progress.

You will also support their social and emotional development, promote positive interactions with their peers and encourage increasing independence.

About you

This is a 32.5-hour-per-week position, on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. The role is available for an immediate start.
