Job summary

Lift Lea Forest in Birmingham is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support an individual pupil with additional needs. You will work with the class teacher to adapt learning and help the child access the curriculum, building confidence and independence throughout the school day.

This role provides strong professional development within a nationally recognised trust, with safeguarding at the core and a supportive team dedicated to wellbeing and pupil progress.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children or young people, ideally in a school or SEND setting.
• Understanding of SEND and how needs affect learning and development.
• Ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with a pupil while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Patient, calm and adaptable approach to individual needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• Driven to help a child develop confidence, independence and engagement in learning.

Responsibilities

• Support a specific pupil with additional needs throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt and reinforce learning.
• Deliver appropriate interventions and monitor pupil progress.
• Foster a positive, trusting relationship and encourage independence.
• Support pupil social and emotional development and peer interactions.
