Job summary

The Leys Primary School in London is seeking a dedicated SEND support assistant to help children access learning, develop communication and independence, and achieve individual outcomes.

You will work with teachers and specialists, delivering personalised activities, using visual supports, and supporting emotional wellbeing and daily routines to create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with SEND, ideally including complex needs.
• Experience using visual communication strategies and supports.
• Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support children with complex needs in an intervention class and/or providing individual support.
• Deliver personalised learning activities aligned to each child’s targets and EHCP.
• Use visual communication strategies and resources to support understanding, communication and interaction.
• Support children’s emotional regulation, sensory needs and wellbeing, helping them feel safe, secure and ready to learn.
• Assist with daily routines, including transitions, to develop independence.
• Provide intimate care, including toileting and personal hygiene, with dignity and respect.
• Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment for children to thrive.
• Collaborate with teachers, families and external professionals to ensure high-quality support.
