Job summary

Specialist SEND Group is looking for compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to support learners across mainstream and specialist settings. You will work alongside teachers to create safe, supportive environments where every child can grow academically and emotionally.

This role involves 1:1 and small-group support, adapting activities to individual needs, promoting communication and independence, and using strategies like visual timetables.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in education, care or similar settings.
• Calm, patient and able to build trusting relationships.
• Nurturing approach and genuine enjoyment in helping children succeed.
• Willingness to learn and develop SEND knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Encouraging engagement and participation within lessons.
• Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Supporting learners with SEND including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs.
• Promoting communication, independence and social development.
• Using strategies such as visual timetables, sensory resources and positive behaviour support.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Supporting pupils during breaktimes, educational visits and wider school activities.
• Providing personal care where required.
