Job summary

Teaching Personnel are working with a welcoming primary school in Exmouth, Devon, seeking a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to start October 2026. This full-time, long-term role offers consistent work and a chance to become an integral part of the school community.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, help them access the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and the SENCO to plan effective interventions.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar education setting.
• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Ability to adapt approach to individual pupils.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to helping children become more independent.
• Safeguarding and pupil wellbeing awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and engage positively with their learning.
• Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and learning needs.
• Follow individual support and learning plans.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
• Adapt approaches to meet individual pupils' needs.
