Job summary

SAIL Academy (Salisbury Academy for Inspiration Learners) is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4–19 with autism and SEMH needs. The role is fixed-term until 31 March 2027, part-time (39 weeks per year), 31.25 hours weekly, in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

You will work with teachers and specialists to deliver targeted literacy, numeracy, and social skill interventions. The successful candidate will build trusting relationships with pupils and families, promote wellbeing, and help

Qualifications

• Has experience supporting children and young people with SEND, including Autism and SEMH.
• Understands autism-friendly strategies and personalised learning approaches.
• Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 5/C or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in the classroom, small groups and 1:1
• Deliver targeted interventions to develop literacy, numeracy and social skills
• Use autism-friendly strategies and visual supports
• Help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive wellbeing
• Promote independence, confidence and resilience
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to achieve individual goals
