Job summary

SAIL Academy in Salisbury, Wiltshire, seeks a SEND Teacher to deliver personalised lessons for pupils with Autism and SEND, working with therapists, staff and families to support academic and social progress.

The successful candidate will hold QTS, have experience with Autism/SEND, use autism-friendly strategies, monitor progress, and collaborate with teams to foster a caring, aspirational learning environment.

FTE Salary Range: MPS1 - UPS3 + SEN Min; £32,916 - £51,047 + £2,787

Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

As a SEND Teacher, you will deliver engaging, personalised lessons that support pupils with Autism and Special Educational Needs to make exceptional progress both academically and socially. Working alongside therapists, support staff and families, you will create meaningful learning experiences that enable pupils to thrive and prepare for successful futures.

You will:

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.

About the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has experience teaching pupils with Autism and/or SEND.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of autism-friendly teaching approaches and intervention strategies.
• Has a proven track record of raising pupil achievement and engagement.
• Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for every learner.
• Communicates effectively with pupils, families and colleagues.

About the School

SAIL (Salisbury Academy for Inspiration Learners) is a day specialist provider of education in Salisbury, Wiltshire for children and young people aged from 4 to 19 years who have a diagnosis of autism or an SEMH profile.

SAIL’s aim is to build safe independent lives for the autistic and SEMH population through a process of understanding, support, and enablement. To achieve this goal the school will look at the unique impact autism and social, emotional, and mental health experiences has on the individual child. From this we aim as a school to personalise the child’s curriculum, care, and therapeutic package to ensure every child achieves and experiences success and independence.
