Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a caring SEND Teaching Assistant for a welcoming mainstream primary school in Birkenhead. You will support pupils with additional needs, enabling access to the curriculum and fostering inclusive learning in a mainstream classroom.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, under the guidance of teachers and the SENCO, helping pupils achieve their social, emotional and academic development while building strong relationships with pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND in school, nursery or similar setting.
• Strong understanding of inclusive education and individualised support.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Job description

Prospero Teaching are seeking a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Birkenhead. The school is looking for an enthusiastic individual who can provide high-quality support to pupils with additional needs and help them thrive within a mainstream classroom environment.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to provide personalised support for pupils who require additional assistance with their learning, communication, behaviour or social development. The role will involve supporting pupils both on a 1:1 basis and within small groups.

• Help pupils access the mainstream curriculum through differentiated activities
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language and learning needs

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school, nursery or similar setting
• A strong understanding of inclusive education and individualised support
• Experience with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs is desirable
• Patient, calm and resilient approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
• Relevant TA, childcare, education or SEND qualifications are advantageous
