Job summary

Connex Education are recruiting local Support Workers to transition into Education as SEND Teaching Assistants for a School in Bury, caring for pupils aged 11-19 with complex SEND including autism. The role is full-time, 8:30am to 3:00pm, starting 3 September 2026, with on-site duties and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children or adults as a Support Worker.
• A genuine passion for helping children develop and succeed.
• Good understanding of Special Needs and child-centred approaches.
• Willingness to provide personal care.
• Ability to work as a team with others to create a calm learning environment.
• Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils.
• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist pupils with learning activities and daily routines.
• Support pupils with personal care where needed.
• Collaborate with class TAs to maintain a calm, engaging learning environment.
• Help identify triggers for challenging behaviour and support de‑escalation.
