Job summary

Five Education seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a well-resourced school in Shepton Mallet, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or mental health challenges. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day and building positive relationships in a welcoming environment.

Applicants from related backgrounds such as mental health, care or youth work are encouraged. Right to work in the UK, two references, and a DBS Update Service are required.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship offered.
• Two recent references (last two years).
• Current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
• Desirable SEND experience or transferable skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, in class and during outdoor activities.
• Help pupils stay focused, calm and regulated throughout the day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Support pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs and behavioural challenges.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff to help pupils reach their full potential.
• Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and positive learning environment.
