Job summary

Five Education is seeking an In Class Support Assistant to work in schools around Shepton Mallet, Somerset, supporting pupils with autism. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, helping learners engage with activities, routines, and communication while promoting independence and positive behaviour.

The ideal candidate is calm, patient and adaptable, with safeguarding awareness and a commitment to pupil welfare in a SEND setting. DBS update service preferred.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK; we cannot sponsor visas.
• Two recent references (from the last two years).
• Current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism, 1:1 or in small groups.
• Help pupils engage with learning activities and routines.
• Encourage communication, independence and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with teachers and other staff.
