Job summary

Five Education Recruitment Limited is seeking a caring In Class Support Assistant to work in schools around Shepton Mallet, supporting pupils with autism and other needs. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils engage with activities and daily routines.

We value patient, nurturing candidates who can adapt to individual needs, uphold safeguarding and promote positive behaviour. Experience in a school or SEND setting is preferred, with DBS on Update Service ideal.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism (professional or personal).
• Calm, patient, and nurturing demeanor.
• Able to adapt to individual needs and structured routines.
• Understands safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism 1:1 or in small groups.
• Help pupils engage with learning activities and routines.
• Encourage communication, independence and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff.
