Five Education is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support young children aged 4-6 with special needs. The role involves engaging with students, promoting emotional coping strategies, and assisting teachers with classroom management during the standard school hours.

Five Education is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support young children with special needs. The role is to work within a reception classroom with students aged 4-6 and primarily be supporting two students with high needs. The children may display signs of demand avoidance tendencies and emotional dysregulation. Therefore, the main responsibilities are to make learning fun through different approaches and be patient in helping the student find emotional coping strategies. There will be class teachers and early year practitioners to support you in the classroom.
The position is full time, following the school calendar year and the standard hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm. Experience with SEMH, high needs children, and autism is highly desired. The successful candidate will be resilient, proactive and confident in handling challenging behaviour. The role will be ASAP until July, and then continuing again from September.
Main Responsibilities
Assisting the teacher with classroom management
Assisting pupils throughout the day, helping them to remain focussed and on task
Offering one-on-one or small group assistance to students who require extra help
Supporting students' social and emotional development, offering encouragement and guidance
Essential Criteria
Have an interest in supporting children/young people
Right to work in the UK
Relevant references and DBS/police checks if necessary
Able to work 5 days a week (term time only) 8:30 am - 3:30pm
*If you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
Please note, the roles are term time only and start ASAP until July 22nd. It will be then pick up again from September onwards.

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer's NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
