Job summary

Connex Education are working with a SEND Primary School in Wirral to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant starting September. You will support a class of 8 KS1 pupils with Autism, including verbal and pre-verbal learners with some behavioural challenges, in a welcoming environment.

The role runs 8.30am-3.30pm, is temp to perm, and offers a competitive weekly rate with access to our SEND toolkit, dedicated consultant support, and a refer-a-friend scheme.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, ideally in a school or care setting.
  • Ability to manage behaviour and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care and adapt to each pupil's needs.
  • DBS check via update service or willingness to apply for one.

About the role:

Connex Education are working with SEND Primary School in Wirral who are looking for a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team in September. This role will consist of supporting A class of 8 KS1 pupils with Autism. The pupils are both verbal and pre-verbal with some behavioural issues.

About the School:

This School caters for pupils aged 2-11 years who have complex SEND and are supported by an Education Health care plan. They have fantastic on-site facilities and actively seek opportunities beyond the classroom through community visits and real-world experiences. All staff put the children at the heart of everything they do and create a fun, calm and engaging learning environment.

Assignment details:

This SEND Teaching Assistant role will commence 3rd September 2026, this is a full time role. The hours consist of working 8.30am-3.30pm. This role is temp to perm.

Person specification:
  • Experience of supporting pupils with complex needs , either in a School or a social/care residential setting
  • Be able to manage behaviour and foster a positive learning environment
  • Be adaptable and able to quickly build a trusting relationship with pupils
  • Be willing to assist with personal care
  • Able to work well as a team
  • Able to use a range of communication styles and adapt to each pupil
  • Able to provide a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
