Job summary

TimePlan Education is seeking a caring Year 1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD in a Sutton primary school. The role focuses on enabling learning, social and communication development, and individual targets within a nurturing, inclusive environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement EHCP targets, adapt activities, monitor progress, and contribute to reviews.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and communication needs.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in similar support roles.
  • Understanding EHCPs and SEND strategies.
  • Patient, nurturing and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD.
  • Support a pre-verbal child using visual aids and structured routines.

Year 1 Teaching Assistant - 1:1 SEND Support

Location: Sutton

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: Competitive Daily Rate

TimePlan Education are seeking a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sutton, providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is pre-verbal.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support a child with complex communication needs, helping them access learning, develop social and communication skills, and achieve their individual targets within a supportive school environment.

The Role
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD
  • Support a pre-verbal child using visual aids, structured routines, and communication strategies
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs
  • Promote engagement, independence, and positive social interaction
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement support plans and targets outlined in the EHCP
  • Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and observations
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD and additional communication needs
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar childcare or care setting
  • Understanding of EHCPs and SEND support strategies
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approachle>
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passionate about making a positive difference to children\'s lives
