Job summary

Teaching Tomorrow is seeking dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Bedfordshire. You will work with teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored support for pupils with various needs, including one-to-one and small-group settings.

Ideal candidates are patient, empathetic and adaptable, with strong communication and the ability to build positive relationships with staff and pupils. Flexible, supportive roles offered across multiple schools.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy.
• Ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.

Job description

Teaching Tomorrow is looking for dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join our team and support primary schools across Bedfordshire.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about helping children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) thrive both academically and personally.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You may work on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or provide support within the wider classroom environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
• Helping children develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
• Supporting pupils with a range of needs, which may include autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive learning activities.
• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs.
• Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils develop appropriate strategies for managing their emotions.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encouraging independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents and other professionals where appropriate.
• Maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Following individual support plans and school policies.

About You

• Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable.
• Experience within a primary school, specialist setting, childcare, youth work, care or a similar environment may also be beneficial.
• Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are welcomed, although relevant experience and the right attitude are equally important.
