Job summary

GSL Education Hull branch is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. You will provide targeted support to pupils with a range of needs, work with teachers and SEND professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.

The role offers flexible day-to-day work, long-term placements or permanent opportunities, with competitive daily pay and dedicated consultant support. A safeguarding DBS is required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational, care, or support setting is desirable.
  • An understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH, or Speech and Language needs is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND, adapting your approach to their individual needs.
  • Assist teachers with differentiated learning activities and personalised interventions to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Support students' academic, social, emotional, and communication development while encouraging greater independence.
  • Promote positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies to help pupils remain engaged and regulated during learning.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide observations and feedback to teachers and the wider support team.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where pupils feel valued and supported.

Salary Scale: £92 - £115 per day (Depending on experience)

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access learning and participate fully in school life.
