Job description

Are you the patient, reassuring Teaching Assistant who helps a child feel ready to learn?

Do you want to join a caring school where small steps are celebrated as big achievements?

Are you looking for regular SEND work where you can build trusted relationships?

TeacherActive is looking for a

nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming primary school in

Newark, NG24, rated

‘Good’ by Ofsted.

You’ll work within

‘The Hub’, a dedicated space offering learning experiences for children with additional needs. For children who need extra reassurance, a different approach or more time, your patience and encouragement could make all the difference.

With a library, spacious surroundings and outdoor learning provision, the school offers plenty of opportunities to explore, discover and build confidence. Outdoor activities encourage children to develop independence and learn to assess risks through supported play, while charity collections help pupils contribute to their wider community.

The school’s values centre on being

ready, respectful and safe, helping children develop resilience, positive relationships and responsibility. We’re looking for someone who can bring those values into everyday moments—from calmly supporting a difficult transition to celebrating a child trying something new.

The work will be regular, with consistency a priority for the children. The right SEND Teaching Assistant could be offered a long-term placement, providing the opportunity to build familiarity, trust and lasting progress.

What will your role include?

Supporting children with additional needs within The Hub, individually and in small groups.

Adapting activities and communication so children can access learning at their own pace.

Offering calm reassurance and helping pupils manage emotions and changing routines.

Supporting safe participation in classroom activities and outdoor learning.

Working closely with school staff to maintain consistent support and share pupil progress.

What will the successful SEND Teaching Assistant bring?

You’ll be

patient, empathetic and understanding, with a caring approach and a passion for supporting children who need a little more help. Experience supporting children with SEND in an education setting will help you recognise individual needs and adapt to changing situations. You’ll be comfortable following guidance, working alongside colleagues and providing clear, consistent encouragement. A commitment to safeguarding and an

enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply, are essential.

Why work with TeacherActive?

CPD through MyProgression, helping you develop your knowledge and confidence in supporting children.

Competitive rates and weekly PAYE pay.

Regular check-ins and support throughout your placement.

A refer-a-friend scheme, rewarding you for recommending fellow education professionals.

Bring your patience, kindness and encouragement to a school where they can make a real difference.
