TeacherActive are supporting one of our partner schools in Tonbridge in recruiting for a dedicated Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant to join their vibrant team. About the SEND Teaching Assistant Role:

As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with secondary-aged students who have a range of SEND needs, providing personalised support to help them access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Your role will be pivotal in promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide individualised support for a student with SEND in a classroom setting.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement tailored strategies and support plans.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment where students feel respected and empowered.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where appropriate.
  • Encourage social interaction, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.

About You as an SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
