Job summary

Prospero Teaching are currently supporting a SEND-focused school in the Huyton area to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. The role involves 1:1 and small-group pupil support, with emphasis on emotional, behavioural and academic development in pupils with SEND/SEMH.

The ideal candidate will have prior school-based experience, a calm, patient approach, and strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to help pupils reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH.
• Experience working in a school, PRU or alternative provision setting.
• Calm, patient and resilient with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Provide emotional, behavioural and academic support.
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.

The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including challenging behaviour, SEMH and complex SEND requirements.
